From looking at other postings, I gather that my downstream channels may not be bonding properly. I tried power-cycling the modem. I tried changing the wi-fi channels used.

Amber Light on two ports. Ok all has been good until now.

How to resolve amber LEDs or a blinking power LED on NETGEAR routers

I have always had all white lights on all four ports 1,2,3,4. I disconnected the cable on the units in the Theater room to verify it wasn't the cable and lost all connection. I then reset the router to factory and still nothing.

I added a switch between the router and the theater room devices they dis run straight from the router to the device via a CAT5e, and I get activity once again, but it's still amber. Any ideas why this would happen? It's working now, but I don't know why all of a sudden I go from all white lights to two being amber.

Labels: AC Nighthawk R Mars Mug. Re: Amber Light on two ports. Is your switch gigabit? Message 2 of 5. The switch is gigabit. However once it saw it I powered it onit changed to amber and now stays amber even if the Pioneer is powered off. What is concerning is when I checked the cables.

I unplugged the CAT5e cable from the back of the Gigabit switch and replaced it with a new one. I was beginning to think something was wrong with either the wiring or the Router. Because all the ports are used up behind the router, I decided to add a switch right at the router. The reason was because when I add wireless cameras I have to connect them to directly to the router first, let them sync, then move them to the desired wireless location. I was having to unplug one of plugs from the back usually a printer so I needed an additional port anyway.

When I did this and plugged the theater room cable into the switch I get activity once again note that before all I did was unplug a cable to see if it was bad. After that no activity even when I put the old cable back in. My son wanted to compare speeds with the different switches.

He ran a test with the gigabit switch, and when he tried to go back to the other switch nothing. However moving back to the gigabit switch and again we have activity. So does unhooking a cable cause this router to lose connection, that only a Hard Reset will correct?
